Water is a band from San Francisco that was apparently created following some encounter in a park and the random decision to build synthesizers in a basement. Which turns out to be one hell of a good idea, given the outcome of the whole process: “Apartment House”, released in February, is a stunning debut album, and a brilliant demonstration that chillwave can be just as much about dream pop than about rock, with Water’s perfect combo of pop vocals, impeccable rythms and impressive synth work.
